The Future of Logic-Cool

by WZ on February 23, 2012 0 Comments

Hey folks, I'm amazed this blog still receives 15-35 visitors everyday even without new content.  As one might guess, I'm still very busy.  Half my nights over the last three weeks were all-nighters.

Anyway, I've been pondering possibilities for Logic-Cool.  Part of the challenge in maintaining the site stems from my current web hosting.  It takes anywhere between 30-60 seconds to make edits to any article.  The website also loads too slow.  The minutes add up.  You can't argue with free services, but sometimes you pay in other ways.

Here's the plan.  I've pre-paid 5 years of premium hosting to use in business activities.  I'm going to transfer this website content to LogicCool.net to serve as an archive.

Then, I'll relaunch LogicCool.com as a brand new website.

Time is the only limiting factor.  I need to compose two 110-page manuscripts ...

Blogger Burnout Finally Begins to Ease

by WZ on May 12, 2011 0 Comments

Ay ay ay. How time flies. Honestly, I completely underestimated how much time blogging requires on a daily basis. Originally, it took me 2 hours to place 6 entries. But then, my desire to increase the quality of my commentary took hold, along with having to learn SEO techniques. Suddenly, a 2 hour daily task became 3-4 hours.

The hours were fine as long as my freelance ran slow, but it didn't.  Soon, I began pulling all-nighters, one right after the other. My sleep schedule got thoroughly wrecked.  Soon, I couldn't concentrate anymore.

Well, my schedule has slowed down, maybe enough for me to post occasional entries now...and with much greater caution.

Blogging Lightly For Now

by WZ on March 29, 2011 0 Comments

Hey, folks. My blogging has lightened up because I'm a freelance and half of the last 3-4 weeks were all-nighters.  I've just been exhausted.

Logic-Cool will live on.

Adventures in Computing

No blog posts today unfortunately. I just spent the last 7 hours fixing some annoying computer issues caused by windows update and involving my RAID drivers. So, I'm exhausted.

Have a great night.

Life Philosophy in the Face of Disaster

by WZ on March 12, 2011 0 Comments

Alright, Logic-Cool is back in the saddle.  We do what we can to help people who are suffering, but the world insists on continuing and so must we.

When tragedies like in Japan, New Zealand or the Indian tsunami of 2004 happen, you can’t help contemplate on your personal philosophies in life.  For me, I’m always bouncing between two extremes. Either this universe is a fundamentally good place operated by a Higher Power who, in light of horrific events, is functioning from a principle of benevolence far more complicated than humanity could ever contemplate…or…we’re all just leading ultimately pointless lives of pre-determination based on our conditions from birth due to education and environment.

Well, I run Logic-Cool. So, I guess that puts me in the optimist’s camp, but I can still be shaken. I believe that the great things to report on any given ...

ANNOUNCEMENT: Removing Pictures

by WZ on March 10, 2011 0 Comments

I've always looked upon Logic-Cool as a personal blog first and a news aggregator second.  I've decided I want to be a tad more professional, so in this regard I'm going to be going back through all Logic-Cool entries and removing ALL photographs that are not in the creative commons.

Going into the future, I'll confine myself to videos and photos that I can clearly use with permission.

New York Times Puts Itself Behind a Registration Wall

by WZ on March 6, 2011 0 Comments

Just a general announcement here.

I want to let Logic-Cool visitors know that the New York Times just put itself behind a registration wall. Unfortunately, this means that all Logic-Cool articles that have previously linked to them will no longer work.

They intend to institute a pay wall.  Subscribers to the print edition of the NY Times will get online access free, others will need to pay a monthly fee.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Page Menu Changes

by WZ on February 10, 2011 0 Comments

Just a heads up to Logic-Cool readers. I've received a few requests through the Contact Form for easier access to various topics. So, later tonight, I'll be setting up pages dedicated to "The Best Of" column, the "Great News Buffet" and maybe some other topics as well. To compensate, I'll be taking down pages with little activity.

Giving Props to DevHub

by WZ on February 2, 2011 0 Comments

Over the last few days, Logic-Cool has received torrential amounts of traffic due to popular websites like Reddit and Instapundit graciously linking us, as well as users from LiveDoor, Wykop.pl, Facebook and Twitter. We're honored that we could play a small part in telling Bishnu Shrestha's story.

Logic-Cool owes its existence to DevHub. Without any web experience, I built this news blog last November using their site builder and ad modules. They also supply the web-hosting free of charge, which is very impressive for the amount of visitors Logic-Cool has been receiving (into the hundreds of thousands). Their customer service even helped us early Sunday afternoon to keep the website running.

For any visitors interested in creating a free website of their very own without any financial obligations or personal risk, I can't recommend DevHub higher.

I honestly owe them this praise. They deserve it.

Re-Designing Logic-Cool Tonight

by WZ on January 15, 2011 0 Comments

Greetings, Cooligans. This is just an announcement blog post that I'll be shifting things around. I'm not satisfied with the layout and finally have some time to explore options.  So, if you're just visiting the site and see things out-of-whack, you know why.

(ASSORTED ANNOUNCEMENTS!) - Happy Birthday to Me. It's My Party...

by WZ on December 20, 2010 0 Comments

...and I'll cry if I want to, BEOTCH!  After literally 3 weeks of writing, editing, developing websites and non-stop working (with no current end in sight), I deserve to wish myself a happy day today.  Literally, I had to pull 7 all-nighters in a row earlier this month, in addition to other all-nighters scattered here and there around December.  Even today on Sunday, I haven't stopped working till literally this moment on Monday morning.

Readership is still low, so I can afford to goof around.  After all, WHO WILL I SCARE AWAY?!

First off, some GREAT ANNOUNCEMENTS.  I would like to welcome RYAN, our film reviewer extraordinaire and fellow blogger.  You may read his first review below on the movie TRON.  He will also soon have his own personal blog page, in addition to sharing the main site blog with me.   I'll also have a bio for ...
