A First Look at Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman

by WZ on March 18, 2011 0 Comments

Collider has a nice rundown of the new Wonder Woman. Unfortunately, I'm not buying the new look. I don't know if it's due to the baby fat around her cheeks or the non-functional Halloween quality costume.

Anycase, looks like we're in for a campy Xena the Warrior Princess style treatment. I think they should've gone with the new updated Wonder Woman uniform in the comics.

Cartoon Network Releases First "Thundercats" Trailer

by WZ on February 26, 2011 0 Comments

The Cartoon Network has released its first official trailer for the re-imagined “Thundercats” series.  Looks pretty well-done, at least for anime style. Kids from the 80’s should get a kick out of the video below.

I used to love “Thundercats” but I haven’t been following the remake’s development as closely as I’d like.  So, I’m a tad confused where this other trailer comes into the picture.

Viggo Mortensen in Contention to Play General Zod in SUPERMAN Reboot

by WZ on February 26, 2011 0 Comments

While it's too early for 80's geeks to celebrate, movie gossip grapevines are whispering that LORD OF THE RINGS star Viggo Mortensen is a "Person of Interest" to play General Zod in Zack Snyder's upcoming SUPERMAN reboot.

We already know the villainess Ursa will play a major role, but what use is she without an infamous evil overlord to command her.  Mortensen currently remains in negotiations for the upcoming SNOW WHITE movie starring Kristen Stewart.  No talks with Mortensen have begun yet to be a part of the SUPERMAN project.

Wonder Woman Finally Gets a Face

by WZ on February 17, 2011 0 Comments

A Wonder Woman project has been on and off repeatedly over the last decade. Today (finally) a new Wonder Woman is making her debut. NBC has tapped "Friday Night Lights" actress Adrianne Palicki as Diana. Palicki will also star in the RED DAWN remake. Wonder Woman will be produced by David E. Kelley, the same mind behind "Boston Legal" and "Ally McBeal".

I understand why Wonder Woman is taking so long. Out of all the most iconic superheroes, she's got the most potential to be ultra-cheesy. She runs around in a patriotic swimwear, uses a lasso for a weapon and flies in a jet you can't see.

Sony Releases First Shot of Andrew Garfield as Spiderman

by WZ on February 14, 2011 0 Comments

This new movie Spiderman movie has gotta be one of the most cynical exploitations of a beloved franchise ever. The original movie with Tobey Maguire isn't even 9 years-old yet. And SPIDERMAN 3 isn't even 4 years-old.

I'm looking forward to THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN, partially because movie quality is usually very bad overall anyway. This project will likely be one of the better ones.

I think of this franchise's exploitation a little like Shakespeare. Does the world need anymore Shakespeare interpretations? No. Are we going to see another dozen of them over the next decade? Yeah, probably. No one criticizes Shakespeare lovers from attending his plays and movies...over and over again.

Is the Spiderman franchise equal to Shakespeare's plays? Nah, but if people enjoy making the film and continue to enjoy watching it...why have a problem with that?

Darren Aronofsky's Next Passion Project to Tell the Story of Noah's Ark

by WZ on February 7, 2011 0 Comments

Riding high off the critical acclaim of BLACK SWAN and his other projects (REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, THE WRESTLER) Darren Aronofsky hopes to eventually tell the tale of Noah's Ark on the big screen. Noah is the Biblical character who was instructed in the Old Testament to create a massive ship to shelter Earth's animals during a massive global flood.

Bleeding Cool has the scoop, along with pictures from Aronofsky's graphic novel, published by Lombard. We also highly approve of Bleeding Cool's name.

Villainess Ursa to Feature in Zack Snyder's SUPERMAN Reboot

by WZ on February 5, 2011 0 Comments

Geeks from the 80's may rejoice. Movie gossip reports that Zack Snyder will resurrect the popular villainess Ursa, who featured in Richard Donner's SUPERMAN II back in 1980. Ursa found her way to Earth from the planet Krypton after being imprisoned in the Phantom Zone by Superman's father Jor-El.  After gaining freedom due to an errant explosion in space, she served as General Zod's chief henchwoman inflicting pain and suffering upon humanity.

The 3 actresses rumored to be in the lead for the role are Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike. Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde and Mila Kunis are competing for the role of Lois Lane.

Ben Walker to star in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER

by WZ on January 28, 2011 0 Comments

Ben Walker will star in the upcoming movie ABRAHAM LINCOLN - VAMPIRE HUNTER adapted from the popular, well-reviewed graphic novel by Seth Graham-Smith.

Alternate history movies seem to be a rage these days in Hollywood, highlighted by Quentin Tarantino's INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, as well as James McAvoy's, Anne Hathaway's and Natalie Portman's rumored attachments to star in PRIDE & PREJUDICE & ZOMBIES.

China Plans Mega-Sized Road-Straddling Bus

by WZ on January 28, 2011 0 Comments

The Chinese certainly aren't doing anything half-a**ed these days. Their latest scheme of urban planning involves building massive buses that actually straddle the roads, each one capable of carrying 1,200 passengers. The buses are so big that commuter cars are expected to drive underneath them...two lanes worth.

As audacious as this plan sounds, the idea is already being implemented in a pilot program. The Mentougou District of Beijing has begun the layout of 186km worth of tracks to be constructed by the end of 2011.

The Mega-Bus is expected to take the place of subways and train systems, estimated to being a whopping 90% cheaper, in addition to being more fuel efficient. These road-staddling goliaths carry the added benefit of pretty much ignoring any kind of traffic jam, as they're able to simply ride above the road.

I can see this catching on in denser ...

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - Christopher Nolan Releases New Info on His 3rd Batman Project

by WZ on January 19, 2011 0 Comments

Warner Brothers announced today that Anne Hathaway will fill the role of Selina Kyle a.k.a. Catwoman. The villain will be Bane, played by Tom Hardy. Geeks will recall that Bane was the villain who snapped Batman's spine in the comics storyline. Anne Hathaway won the role of Catwoman over a distinguished group of actresses, including Kiera Knightley, Rachel Weisz, Noami Watts, Blake Lively and Natalie Portman. Personally, I would've preferred Naomi Watts (being that I'm a big, gushing fan of hers).

We at Logic-Cool sincerely hope Nolan will be able resurrect Catwoman as a respectable movie character. She's had it rough in Hollywood over the last decade and a half. We imagine this might've been Anne's reaction when she got the good news.

Warner Brothers Selects Shane Black to Direct Adaptation of the Japanese Manga "DEATH NOTE"

by WZ on January 13, 2011 0 Comments

Please, please, PLEASE let this project be an adaptation of the manga/TV show and not the live-action Japanese movie.  DEATH NOTE is one of the most incredible stories to come out of Japan. Literally presenting the situation of the "pen being mightier than the sword", Death Note is a masterpiece of crime and political intrigue. The story follows a young man Light who finds a mysterious notebook. Whenever he writes a name on its pages, that person dies soon after. Even my wife couldn't pull away from this series, and she's no geek by a long shot.

Shane Black is the writer of LETHAL WEAPON, along with a myriad of other strong Action movies. He's also reportedly a huge fan of the series as well. The script will be penned by Anthony Bagarozzi.  No matter how good or bad this film will be, I highly recommend ...

Life Imitates Fiction: Masked "Superhero" Foils Car Robbery

by WZ on January 4, 2011 0 Comments

You'd think this would've happened sooner...sort of like a real-ass Kick-Ass. The guy hasn't gone full-blown superhero persona...he's more like a guy doing a neighborhood watch who decided to wear a costume.  Our would-be superhero is named Phoenix Jones, who leads the the Rain City Superhero Movement.
