Play Rock-Paper-Scissors VS. Artificial Intelligence

by WZ on March 17, 2011 0 Comments

Before the New York Times pay wall goes up on March 28th, check out this quirky little game they have on their website. Basically, you're playing Rock-Paper-Scissors against a computer, and as you play the AI tries to statistically "learn" your patterns. So theoretically, the more you play, the worse you'll do...right?

The NY Times offers two levels, Novice and Veteran.  In Novice, the computer will only learn from your actions. In Veteran, it uses the knowledge of all players against you.

Check it out and see for yourself. I played several games and it totally kicked my butt.

You Gotta Love YouTube - Charlie Sheen Edition

by WZ on March 9, 2011 0 Comments

Okay, I know everyone is sick of hearing about Charlie Sheen everywhere, but this video is literally full of win...or as Sheen would say "Winning!"

An inventive YouTuber satirizes Charlie Sheen's interviews by "songifying" them.

It hit me...Charlie Sheen is kind of like a real-life Barney Stinson.

CBS Renews "How I Met Your Mother" for Two More Seasons

by WZ on March 5, 2011 0 Comments

CBS has locked in two more seasons of "How I Met Your Mother". All I got to say is, "Yaaaaaaaaay!" This series is pretty much the only television I watch ever. I  got suckered into one episode by my wife and then it was all downhill from there.

As sad as I'll be to see the series end, they probably should get around to it. As the Collider article mentions, the underlying story about how Ted Mosby meets his wife can't keep going...and on...and on....and on. Jason Segel also enjoys a budding movie career that he'll eventually need to leave the show for.

HIMYM is a rare gem aimed mostly at the late-20 and early-30's crowd.  My wife and I have spent many evenings together laughing on the couch over this series.

Argument Between Old French Men Ends in Lightsaber Duel

by WZ on February 26, 2011 0 Comments

I couldn't stop lol'ing at this video. Some mischievous guy with After Effects has a bit too much time on his hands. Alas, too bad we all can't be wandering around with lightsabers.

Too Lazy For Cliffs Notes? Wait For the Movie to Come Out

by WZ on January 31, 2011 0 Comments

Students who hate reading Shakespeare may now rejoice. At first, you could use cliffs notes to avoid reading his plays. But now, thanks to AOL and reality show producer Mark Burnett, you won't even have to read the cliffs notes. They've entered an agreement to produce comedic video shorts based on the little booklets published by Wiley.  The shorts will be featured on AOL.com later this year.

Rapper P.Diddy Sued For 1 Trillion Dollars & Causing 9/11

by WZ on January 29, 2011 0 Comments

This lady should've sued P. Diddy for 1 zillion dollars instead.  Oh wait...

"Turks also alleges that Diddy, real name Sean Combs, caused the 9/11 attacks, put her son in hospital and sold a poker chip belonging to her, which she says was worth 100 zillions of dollars".

Man, I'm working in the wrong business.

In other entertainment news, Autobot leader Optimus Prime has also filed suit against P. Diddy for the destruction of the planet Cybertron. Darth Sidious also wants damages for P. Diddy blowing up the Death Star...TWICE...which cost him about 10 zillion dollars each.

The judge has set a January 31 court date for the case to be heard.

"How much?!"

Guitar Army Invades YouTube

by WZ on January 26, 2011 0 Comments

I never cease to be impressed what people manage to produce on YouTube. This isn't the first time we've showcased geek god Freddie Wong on Logic-Cool. The guy seems to be a walking generator of crazy hip ideas.

I'm posting his Guitar Army video first and then some other favorites of mine below it. There's honestly few things better in life than watching someone live in their element.

1) GUITAR ARMY

2) AIMBOT

3) FLOWER WARFARE

The Year 2011 According to Thomas Edison in 1911

by WZ on January 26, 2011 0 Comments

io9 just published one of Edison's articles written in 1911.  More famously known for inventing the 1st commercially viable light bulb and his vicious feud with NikolaTesla, the venerable inventor published a list of predictions for the year 2011.

By 2011, we shall all...

1) Travel through the air at 200 miles per hour!

2) Drive cars and rid in taxi cabs made of gold.

3) Sail on cruise ships made of gold.

4) Live in houses made completely of steel.

5) Rock our babies in steel cradles, use steel furniture all throughout.

6) Read books with pages made out of nickel leaves.

7) Learn to transmute iron into gold.

Personally, I like the work of Nikola Tesla far better. He accurately predicted cellphones over 100 years ago.

What Happens When You Let a Concept Artist Design Your Boat

by WZ on January 25, 2011 0 Comments

Brilliant French artist Julien Berthier has designed and built a fully functional boat (christened the "Love Love") that looks like it's sinking. He calls it "the permanent and mobile image of a wrecked ship that has become a functional and safe leisure object."

Searching for Awesome - The Eternal Quest of Male Geekness

by WZ on January 24, 2011 0 Comments

Many women might be wondering...what exactly gets men excited? Sex? Sports? Money? Power? Video Games?

Yes, yes, all those things are part of the answer, but they just scratch the surface of male geekness. Barney Stinson on "How I Met Your Mother" encapsulates the primary male drive in one word.

"Awesome".

That's right. Men constantly live in an eternal search and quest for things that are "awesome." What is "awesome" you may ask? The word is inherently undefinable, but it's a word like Truth (with a capital T). You can't define it, but you know it when you see it. Men geek out over winning football games, getting high scores in video games and being smiled at by Megan Fox. What do all three of these things have in common?

The events are all "awesome" when they happen.

Take these group of guys for instance in ...

Weekly Sex-ploitation Blog Post (For Men) - Bikini Shakespeare Edition

by WZ on January 23, 2011 0 Comments

Yes! We’re at that time of week again…the Sex-ploitation Blog Post where I shamelessly lure internet traffic like the Pied Piper through a devious scheme involving appeals to humanity’s lower instincts. Or rather mankind’s lower instincts because this week belongs to the men!

Actually, we do these posts on Sunday at Logic-Cool because it’s a holy day. No, actually we do this Sunday because that’s often a day we can’t find any truly interesting geek news to report. The whole news-reporting side of the internet bogs down into a lethargic dread of *Monday*.

So, let’s get to it. We here at Logic-Cool often attempt a futile combination of education and sex. Last time for men, we spotlighted the fitness side of sexuality.  This week we will cultivate our literary minds with…

…Bikini Shakespeare!  And these videos are as awesomely lame and sexy ...

Twitter & Facebook "Isolate" People "From Reality" According to Academics Living In An Ivory Tower

by WZ on January 23, 2011 2 Comments

These days, social science professors and tenured academics are often usually the last people you approach for real-world, gritty, hands-on knowledge. The latest in the train of academics to condemn the hobbies and habits of the unwashed masses comes from a "leading American sociologist" from MIT Sherry Tuckle, who of course is peddling her book on how damaging human innovations in communications are.

I'd say my number of connections made through Twitter and Facebook have increased my social interactions exponentially. I occasionally receive invites from old high school classmates on Facebook to go out for coffee. I'm also a part of a couple activity groups who meet in real life that organize themselves purely online.

Plus, gaming in MMO worlds always proves to be a fun, chaotic experience. Sometimes those online friends become real, but most of the times not.  However, I have gained close friends now that ...

Words to Live By #3

"Sometimes you feel like a nun...sometimes you don't. Almond Joy has nuns, Mounds don't."

EDIT: Okay, so apparently that joke reference seems too obscure for some.

Weekly Sex-ploitation Blog Post (For Ladies) - Josh Holloway

by WZ on January 16, 2011 0 Comments

Yes, it's that time of week again.  We come to another Sex-ploitation Blog Post where I *shamelessly* attempt to drive traffic by posting something that appeals to our non-logical parts. I have to admit though, it's kinda tough to this post for the ladies' side. I just don't posses that kind of eye. Fortunately, I've enlisted the help of the local in-house expert on boy candy (also known as my wife). And she assures me that this week should definitely be dedicated to Josh Holloway

Oh, Josh Holloway, you were such a frustrating character to watch on LOST, letting the love of your life Juliet attempt to erase your loving history using an underground nuclear bomb detonated in the past which would create a temporal rift that would move forward and erase the life you had lived together on the island. All because you couldn't ...

Japanese Teens Don't Like Sex (?!)

by WZ on January 13, 2011 0 Comments

Apparently so, according to this study in Japan. That's funny, because I was under the impression that practically every Japanese anime I end up watching is hyper-sexual in some way.

I'm actually not posting the article for the subject matter itself.  Instead, I find the Comments section hilarious.  You'll find a myriad of Japanese men warning Western men not to be seduced by Japanese women..no matter what!

And you thought we were a serious news blog here at Logic-cool.  We kinda had people fooled for a few days running there...

OUT: Incandescent Light Bulbs...IN: Heat Balls

by WZ on January 4, 2011 0 Comments

And they're very efficient at heating, too! A clever German businessman Siegfried Rotthauser has skirted the EU ban on incandescent bulbs by selling them as "Heat Balls" marketing them as "small heating devices."

The legalese aside, incandescent bulbs are actually fairly good heaters.  I'm not a big fan of the eco-bulbs.  If one of them breaks inside your home, you must evacuate the room immediately and perform the following cleanup.

Weekly Sexploitation Post! (For Ladies)

by WZ on January 2, 2011 0 Comments

Yes, friends. It's that time again where we shamelessly use sex to drive traffic.  This week goes to the ladies. I have to admit, finding a geeky AND sexy man isn't very easy. There just isn't any male equivalent for women of the sexy librarian for men. So, I just gotta go with what's popular.  Hmm, let's see.  Who have I overheard random ladies swoon after in public?  Ah, the up-and-coming Bradley Cooper! I actually like this guy as an actor. He definitely has a bright future ahead.

And let's not forget the obsessed fan video!
